Aretha Franklin was released from a Detroit hospital

Aretha Franklin was released from a Detroit hospital  Sunday after undergoing a Dec. 2 surgery that was deemed "highly successful," though her publicist has not revealed what kind of surgery or discussed the nature of her illness.

According to a variety of news reports and a Free Press source, Franklin, 68, has pancreatic cancer. Neither Franklin nor her spokesperson has confirmed the diagnosis.

Her publicist released a statement Wednesday stating that Franklin is in "great spirits and very happy to be home, where she will be resting in anticipation of spending the upcoming holiday season with her family."

"I've been at home for almost three days now," a statement from Franklin reads. "My family and friends who brought me home are taking great care of me. I also have a private nurse who visits on a daily basis. I'm hoping to be strong enough to go out and see the upcoming Sam Cooke play at the Music Hall in downtown Detroit before Jan. 2, as well as a performance of 'Dreamgirls' at the Fox before it closes."
Tim friends Zuckerberg

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has landed the cover of Time magazine and its 2010 Person of the Year title.

The 26-year-old CEO, whose rise to fame was portrayed this year on the big screen in "The Social Network," is the youngest person to take the accolade since Charles Lindbergh was selected in 1927 when he was 25.

Time says it selected Zuckerberg "for connecting more than half a billion people and mapping the social relations among them; for creating a new system of exchanging information; and for changing how we all live our lives."
