Dennis DeWayne Byrd born (October 5, 1966 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is a former defensive end and defensive tackle for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He attended college at the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He played professionally for the Jets for four seasons beginning in 1989. In his first two seasons, he recorded 20 sacks and 110 tackles.On Wednesday, Byrd sent head coach Rex Ryan the jersey that was cut off of him on Nov. 29, 1992, the day of his injury against the Kansas City Chiefs. On Sunday, less than two hours before the Jets faced the Patriots, Byrd talked with reporters.
