With each reoccurring release of Apple’s iOS usually comes a patch for all of the known jailbreaking methods. to the hackers behind these methods this proves little more than an annoyance as it isn’t long before a new method is discovered and made available to the public. The latest version, 4.2.1, is no different as it has taken some time for the jailbreaking community release an untethered method.
Luckily, the Chronic DevTeam is back again as it has just been noticed that their Greenpois0n jailbreaking software has been updated to allow for an untethered jailbreak of iOS 4.2.1. The only catch here seems to be the fact that you need a Mac to actually perform the jailbreak but other than that you should be smooth sailing.

STEP 1: Your device must be on iOS 4.2.1, then download GreenPoison RC5 for Mac OS X.
STEP 2: Launch GreenPoison RC5 then connect your iPhone into your Mac via USB and click on Jailbreak .
STEP 3: Follow the instructions shown on the screen to enter DFU mode..
STEP 4: Once jailbroken, you'll get Cydia installed on your iOS device and you won't need to use Just tethered boot right now option anymore.
